Tripoli Convention Center, developed by Tabanlıoğlu Architects as Libya's first modern convention center, was selected as the best public building at the 2010 Cityscape Architecture Awards held in Dubai. The construction of the project, which is the most modern structure of the city with a capacity of 3 thousand people, was carried out by System İnşaat in a short period of 10 months. The Award Jury evaluated the project as “Tripoli Congress Center, which will be a venue for the meeting of different cultures, as a strong and at the same time modest structure that reflects the spirit of the geography and culture in which it is located”. Melkan Gürsel Tabanlıoğlu emphasized that "this project, which they realized as a first in Libya, will be one of the pioneers of the new wave of architecture in Libya, and the importance of the building being compatible with its environment in every sense."
